Step 1: Exfoliation
24-48 prior to your spray tan session, exfoliate your skin thoroughly using a gentle scrub or exfoliating mitt. This helps remove dead skin cells and ensures an even application of the spray tan.
Step 2: Shave and wax
If desired, shave or wax any areas you prefer to be hair-free before the spray tan session. Doing this at least 24 hours prior to the session allows the spray tan to adhere to smooth skin.
Step 3: Skin prep
Avoid applying moisturizers, lotions, oils, makeup, perfume, or deodorant on your skin on the day of your spray tan session. These can create a barrier and prevent the spray tan from developing properly.
Step 4: Clothing
Wear loose-fitting, dark-colored clothing to your spray tan appointment. Tight or light-colored clothing may rub against the tan and cause uneven coloration.
Step 5: Session
During your session, the technician may ask you to assume different poses to ensure complete coverage on all body parts. Follow their instructions and hold each pose for the recommended time.
Step 6: Drying
SunFXs heated drying system dries the applied tanning solution almost instantly—the technician will recommend how long to wait before getting dressed.
Step 7: Post-session
Refrain from showering or getting wet for the recommended time frame provided by the technician. This allows the spray tan to fully develop. Typically, this is at least 8 hours for the SunFX standard solution or ~4 hours for the Violet Royal solution.
Step 8: Showering
After the recommended time for the tan to develop, shower with a warm water rinse, free from soap, shampoo, or conditioner. Also avoid any moisturizers. After 8-12 hours, you can resume the use of oil-free soap. The longer you wait to shower, the darker the tanning results. Wait just 1-2 hours for lighter shades and 5-6 hours for the darkest results.
Step 9: Maintenance
Apply a moisturizer daily to keep your skin hydrated and prolong the life of the spray tan. We recommend getting an airbrush spray tan weekly to maintain color.
