How does UV tanning work?
Tanning takes place in the skin's outermost layer, the epidermis, with special cells called melanocytes. When exposed to UV-B light (short wave ultraviolet), melanocytes produce the pigment, melanin. The pinkish melanin travels up through the epidermis and is absorbed by other skin cells. When exposed to UV-A light (longer wave), melanin oxidizes or darkens. This is your skin's way of protecting itself against too much UV light.
Should I be using lotion?
Indoor tanning lotions are specifically designed for the indoor tanning industry; they contain ingredients to assist in achieving maximum tanning results. They are designed not only to maximize and accelerate great tanning results, but most importantly replace essential nutrients, minerals and lost moisture to your skin. Lotions also contain antioxidants to shield free radical damage to your skin.
Why does a tan fade?
The tan or pigmentation process occurs in the epidermis, the top skin layer. Cells in the epidermis are constantly reproducing and pushing older cells upward toward the surface of your skin, where they slough off in about one month. As your skin replaces its cells, the cells laden with melanin are removed. A tan will progressively fade without repeated exposure to UV light.
Do I need to wear eyewear?
We require that all tanners wear FDA approved eyewear while tanning. The skin around your eyes is the thinnest skin on your body, and UV light can easily penetrate that skin to reach your eyes. Repeated, unprotected exposure to UV light may cause long-term damage to your eyes, and that is why we require all tanners to wear eyewear every time they tan.

How do I prepare for my Sunless session?
Arrive showered, shaven, free of make-up, perfume, oil, body sprays, deodorant and moisturizer for optimal results. Bring loose, dark fitting clothing for after your session. Your Sunless session will last less than sixty seconds plus dry time for the application and a total of 10 to 15 minutes with prep and post preparation.
How do sunless lotions work?
Sunless tanning products, also called self-tanners, can give your skin a tanned look without exposing it to ultraviolet (UV) rays. The active ingredient in most sunless tanning products is dihydroxyacetone (DHA). When applied to the skin, DHA reacts with dead cells in the outermost layer of skin to temporarily darken the skin's appearance. The coloring doesn't wash off, but it gradually fades as the dead skin cells slough off
What is barrier cream? How do I use it?
Barrier cream is applied as a protective barrier to prevent unwanted color on the porous areas such as hands, feet, nails and cuticles. Apply the barrier cream prior to your sunless session. The barrier cream is provided for you, free of charge in every sunless tanning room. Dispense a generous amount of barrier cream onto your hands and apply an even coating to the palms of the hands, in-between the fingers, tips of fingers, covering nails and around the cuticles. Also apply a generous layer of barrier cream to the bottom of feet, in-between the toes, covering toenails and cuticles.
How long does a sunless tan last?
On average, a sunless tan will last 4-7 days. The life-span of a sunless tan also depends on your skin's natural exfoliation. The faster your skin regenerates, the faster the sunless tan will fade. The tan created by the DHA and erythrulose affects only the top layer of the skin and will begin to fade after 4 to 5 days as the skin naturally begins to exfoliate. The longevity of a sunless tan depends on the skin's natural exfoliation process, and on the skin regimen followed before and after application.
What is a Maui Cocktail?
A Maui Cocktail is one of our most popular services. It is the combination of a sunbed tan followed by a VersaSpa or SunFX sunless session. When tanning in a sunbed the UV rays stimulate melanin production and open your pores. Applying a sunless tan immediately after your UV session allows the sunless spray solution to penetrate deeper, giving the deepest, darkest, longest-lasting tan.

What is Red Light Therapy?
Red Light Therapy is an all natural process that encourages the body to naturally increase blood circulation to the skin which regenerates and stimulates fibrolast cells create collagen and elastin for a more youthful appearance.
Can I use the red light bed the same day I tan?
Yes, you may use the Red Light Therapy bed the same day you tan. In fact, it is recommended that it be used before tanning, since the Red Light Therapy brings blood to the surface of your skin and produces a better tan through increased oxidation of melanin.
How often should I use Red Light Therapy to see results?
We recommend 3-4 sessions per week for the first 12 weeks. Continuous use accelerates cellular activity and fuels the collagen and elastin process. After your first 12 weeks, we recommend 1-2 sessions per week thereafter.
What is the Formostar Body Wrap?
A relaxing 50 minute treatment for weight loss and pain management, including arthritis. It's great for helping to diminish the appearance of cellulite and there is never a need to disrobe... it wraps right over your clothing!
How often can you repeat Formostar treatments?
This will depend on a person’s lifestyle. If a person is very physically active undertaking significant walking, jogging, working out, or competitive sports, then Formostar treatments can be as often as every 2 days. For best results it is preferable right before a workout as this will help burn the most dramatic amount of calories and also has maximum impact on body definition. With relatively physically inactive people, a minimum of 3 days between sessions is recommended. Upon reaching the intended body shape, it is possible to revert to maintenance only schedule, which for most people, should be around 2 to 4 times a month.

Hydration Station is a hydro-fusion therapy machine, that uses dense steam, infrared heat, oxygen science concentrates, colored lights and bed massage to rejunevate the skin.
